David Glidden's March Madness Pools

I'm running a few bracket pools this year of different formats that any Manifold user (in addition to my family and friends) is invited to join!

IMPORTANT: All payments and brackets must be submitted by Thursday, March 21st, 2024 at 12:15pm Eastern. Any brackets without accompanying payment (where applicable0 will be removed from the group.

1. Manifold M100 March Madness Pool

• Open to any Manifold user

• 1 entry per person

• Traditional ESPN scoring

• Payouts: 1st place = 60% of Mana pot, 2nd = 30%, 3rd = 10%. Payouts will be made via Managram to account that sent the original buy-in, unless requested otherwise.

• Payouts: top ~50% of brackets double their money (receive $10), bottom ~50% get nothing. Any brackets tied in the middle gets their money back ($5).

5. “Draft Madness” - fantasy football-style March Madness game [CLOSED - FULL]

• 8-person redraft league

• $10 USD buy-in

• 8-round slow snake draft - each participant drafts 1 basketball team each round, tracked manually via chat (Slack) and Google Sheets, until everyone has drafted an 8-team roster

  • Choice of draft slot determined by accuracy in correctly picking seed lines ahead of bracket reveal (blind survey)

• Points are earned by wins from teams on your roster, awarded in Fibonacci point scoring: 1 pt for each Round of 64 win, 2 pts for each Round of 32 win, 3 pts for each Sweet 16 win, 5 pts for each Elite 8 win, 8 pts for each Final Four win, 13 pts for Championship win

• First Four play-in games are not scored; those teams are drafted in their pair and whichever team wins the play-in game is put on the drafted roster.
