CBS: Israel says troops have carried out raids in Gaza ahead of expected ground offensive
The Israeli military said Friday that troops had entered the Gaza Strip to hunt down Hamas militants and try to find dozens of hostages taken by the Palestinian faction as it launched a terror attack on southern Israel on Oct. 7.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson did not say how many forces had entered the small, densely-packed Palestinian territory, where Israel is widely expected to launch a full ground invasion in the coming days or even hours.
"Over the past 24 hours, IDF forces carried out localized raids inside the territory of the Gaza Strip to complete the effort to cleanse the area of terrorists and weaponry," a statement from Israel's army said. "During these operations, there was also an effort to locate missing persons."
Israel's government telecommunications minister said Friday that all internet service would be cut off in Gaza from Saturday.
IDF says infantry forces and tanks entered Gaza Strip territory today in "localized raids" in order to clear the area of potential terrorists and locate missing Israelis.

@SemioticRivalry Not definitive, of course, just someone's view.
FWIW although I see people criticising this account, I haven't seen anything egregious myself- seems par for the course to me. But maybe I haven't seen the specific examples people think are worthy of criticism.
@chrisjbillington It's basically one of these accounts that lifts straight from telegram. So if he says "reports that X has happened" that is true. But when it comes to actually interpreting the available info this person is kind of an idiot. He's a knockoff of the far more credible @osinttechnical who works for an intelligence firm.
So for example, he said that 20 paragliders were entering Israel from Lebanon, this turned out to be completely fake.

in general he has an extremely poor track record with misinformation which is well-known among the more serious OSINT community but the nature of twitter makes it difficult to hold these people accountable.
