At any time before January 1st 2023, will multiple popular news sites run multiple stories about AI-generated fakes being used in malicious ways? This includes pictures, videos, voice clips or real-time generated phone calls, AI-generated term papers, etc.
Popular news sites, in this case, does not include specialized sites like Hacker News or WIRED. I will be primarily watching NPR and BBC, but The Washington Post, Al Jazeera, The Guardian, etc. also count. If at least three of these types of sites run at least three separate front page articles this will resolve YES. This puts the required level of media furor somewhere below what we've seen for polio or Liz Cheney, but I believe above what I've seen for DALL-E.
