Mitch McConnell is the current Republican leader in the Senate. Who will succeed him? It doesn't matter if they succeed him as majority or minority leader.

John Cornyn would be lucky to even win his next primary

@Chimp being leader would probably increase odds of that

How does the election process work? I'm having trouble finding information about it online besides "elected by the senators". Is it a secret ballot? Could we see multiple rounds like with the Speaker vote?

@DanMan314 just a simple majority vote in-caucus. party leader isn't a real (constitutional) position like speaker so it doesnt need a majority on the floor

@SemioticRivalry Is it a secret ballot? Will we know who's voting for who, and how many rounds it takes?

@DanMan314 it's a secret ballot. i am guessing there won't be very many candidates and it'll probably be 1 vote.

Since the Republicans seem to be deciding between multiple elderly white men named John, the real question is will they be John or not:

How about betting on their characteristics?

Mitch is out in November!

@ManifoldPolitics I was about to ask if there was a dashboard for it.

Steve Daines

typo for Daines. your choice whether to let it stand

@Conflux I'll let it stand

I think that this is the real question on everyone’s mind, will the next leader have a first name of John?? (I couldn’t help but to make this market when I saw the chance of a John at 64%)
