Resolution criteria
This market resolves to YES if the United States military conducts a deliberate kinetic military strike (including aerial bombardment, artillery, missile strikes, or drone strikes) targeting territory, territorial waters, or military assets of Oman.
Otherwise, this market resolves to NO.
Resolution Guidelines:
Confirmation Source: The strike must be officially acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Defense, the White House, or the Omani government, or confirmed by a consensus of major international news agencies, such as Reuters or the Associated Press.
Intentionality: The action must be a deliberate military strike. Accidental incursions, stray munitions from neighboring conflicts, or non-kinetic actions (such as cyberattacks, economic sanctions, or electronic warfare) will not qualify.
Target: Strikes targeting non-state actors or third-party military assets inside Omani territory will qualify only if the strike is conducted without the explicit consent of the Omani government.
Background
On August 17, 2026, President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric against Oman, warning during a Fox News interview that the U.S. would "bomb the shit out of them" if the country "gets in the way" of U.S. negotiations and blockades regarding Iran. Trump's comments followed announcements that neutral Oman had negotiated a bilateral shipping route agreement with Iran for managing transit through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, which lies between the two nations. This marked the second time in 2026 that Trump threatened Oman with military action, prompting congressional Democrats to draft war powers resolutions to constrain his authority.
