The last major spike in protests in the United States occurred in the summer of 2020 over the death of George Floyd. The spike is observable in protest counts that the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED) collects and publishes in its United States Crisis Monitor project.

The next biggest mass protests was Palestine-related demonstrations between March 2024.

For the purposes of this question, "a major spike in protests" means 1,000 or more demonstrations (protests and riots) in any single week before 2030, according to ACLED data.
If 1,000 or more demonstrations (protests + riots) occur in any single week per ACLED data before 2030, this question resolves YES. Otherwise this question resolves NO on 1 Jan 2030.
@WilliamGunn There are two graphs. The first graph is Jan 2020 to Mar 2024. It shows protests spiking above 1,000 per week for thee weeks in 2020, hitting a high of 3,000+. The second graph is from Jan 2022 to Mar 2025. During that period protests per week never cracked 1,000.
