The page I see when I navigate to manifold.markets has started showing news articles, sometimes even with no relevant market attached. This destroys one of the best properties of Manifold: that I can get the news without having to look at the news. And I even get notifications when stuff happens, because markets resolve! It's really perfect...
This market resolves YES if, on my birthday (Sep 2nd), I am blessed with the best gift possible: looking at Manifold and not seeing news articles by default. If they're stuck somewhere minor, clearly subordinate to actual markets, that's acceptable.
If I open Manifold and see "experts warn", this market resolves NO. Also I'll be very sad.
If it's possible to accomplish this with a simple tweak in settings, and somebody tells me how, I'll try it. But I'll still test on Sep 2nd to see if it stuck. And I won't try very hard.
(I wrote a long rant about why I hate news titles so much, but I realized half of you already know and understand/agree, and the other half will just think I'm weird, so never mind.)

@ian also for everyone I only show news articles if there are markets attached, this should cut down on the news noise
@Joshua Huh. That's a good point.
If somebody tells me how to disable it, and it's easy, I'll do it. Then if it works and "sticks" (so on Sep 2nd it's still disabled), I'll resolve YES.
Changing the description now...
@ScottLawrence Hahaha, this is great. I have been curious what people think of news with only groups attached, so thanks for the feedback!
@ian I don't like those that much either. Less irritating though. I honestly thought the "news without markets" thing was a bug...
@Sinclair no that was me! I was just attaching groups to news items with the idea that new users coud find some groups to join, but I think it's better to just add them if there's markets.
