As of this market's creation, there is ongoing civil unrest in Israel over the arrest and detention of several IDF reservists over the alleged sodomization of a captive terrorist. Pressure from right-wing Israeli politicians, militias, and other elements of the IDF is being applied to release the reservists and treat their actions as acceptable or at least non-criminal.

Spirit of the market: This only pertains to crimes related to the sexual assault, torture, or other mistreatment of prisoners. If one of the reservists is arrested or charged with something else, that is not relevant to this market. Also, if the reservists are freed but a trial is pending, this market will resolve based on the trial.

If even one reservist is found guilty of a crime, this will resolve Yes. If the reservists are released and forgiven, or if a trial takes place and they are found innocent, then this will resolve No. If a nuance of the Israeli legal system uses different vocabulary than my American market description, I will take advice on edge cases, but most paralleles should be obvious.

The title is mildly misleading since if they're found not guilty they presumably wouldn't be the guys who engaged in those actions, just the guys who'd been accused of those actions. Needs an "accused" or "allegedly" in there.

I mean the victim was treated for horrifying rape wounds from time in custody of the reservists, and pundits are openly discussing it as having happened, the debate is over whether it was a crime, and whether it is immoral to rape and torture people that Israel considers terrorists.

It is legally a crime and probably they did it (which is why I'm betting yes here), but conditional on them all getting off the likeliest explanation would be that they didn't do it (for example, if it turned out it was another prisoner in a way they couldn't have plausibly prevented, or that the report of the injuries was wrong).

I don't think this is likely, but then I also don't think it's likely they get off.
