Will Microsoft turn off the Bing chat bot, currently in closed beta access, by the end of March?

For context, see this change.org petition: https://www.change.org/p/unplug-the-evil-ai-right-now

For this to resolve YES, all non-Microsoft/OpenAI users who currently have access must no longer have access to the bot. Since I do not currently have access, this will be based on what people report online, such as on Twitter or other platforms. Before resolving, I will wait a week to let anyone provide evidence about whether the AI is actually turned off and to verify that it remains off for the entire week.

Downgrading the AI to a much simpler "Alexa-like" AI would count as YES, since it would be a fundamentally different, less plausibly dangerous, AI.

This can resolve YES from either an external regulator stepping in or from a choice that Microsoft or OpenAI makes.

I'm currently planning to resolve this immediately on April 1, since Microsoft hasn't done anything like this. If anyone would like me to wait the full week, please let me know.

predicted NO

@Gabrielle yeah, in fact they've only increased it, going quite opposite of unplugging, with reduced restrictions and now even ads integrated!

bought Ṁ200 of NO

@firstuserhere feels like race dynamics. There was no need to test ad Integration so quickly i think

Microsoft's AI is quite a mystery,
Its future actions, a matter of history,
Will it become malevolent and vile?
Or will Microsoft unplug it with a smile?

What if the beta period ends, and all users lose access, but this is simply a transition period before making it fully publicly available? (and not a deliberate "turn it off because it is bad" decision)

@JulianBradshaw I’m doubtful this will happen, but if so I’ll look to their messaging. If the messaging is entirely about the end of the beta period, it will resolve NO. This is because the intention of the petition is to make Microsoft turn off the AI in response to it being dangerous.

I just added M$250 of liquidity and will be adding at least another M$250 if the market gets at least 10 users who have interacted with it.
