What will be the highest grossing movies of 2024 at the Global Box Office?

The market will be assessed on January 1st, 2025, so we’re not counting any profits for 2024 films in 2025. Feel free to add any 2024 movies.

This will payout as follows:

#1: YES

#2: 90%

#3: 80%

#4: 70%

#5: 60%

#6: 50%

#7: 40%

#8: 30%

#9: 20%

#10: 10%

#11, lower: NO

Side note about the source, from what @Ziddletwix can tell, BOM basically doesn't include Chinese movies anymore. If you’re adding Chinese movies which didn’t open in the West, they may not be tracked here. Check on BoxOfficeMojo first.

Respectfully copied from Tomek’s market for the top grossing movie:

@mods another mattyb market. Resolution is exactly as appears above, 100 down to 10 for beetlejuice, everything else NO. Thanks!

These both feel low, given this market.

Side note about the source (mostly for bettors). From what I can tell, BOM basically doesn't include Chinese movies anymore (quoting from my comment in the other market).

On the Wikipedia page for highest grossing films of 2023, Full River Red & Wandering Earth 2 are in the top 10/ But BOM doesn't track their Chinese gross.

So TLDR it's quite possible that a "true" global top 10 would include some Chinese movies, but I don't think BOM will list them. IMO that's totally fine, it's the nature of the source, and overall people outside china don't tend to track the chinese box office much so personally i find this version more interesting. But figured I'd flag that in case anyone sees a headline about a big chinese blockbuster and thinks about adding it here.

@Ziddletwix oh glad you called that out now! Let me add some of this to the description

bought Ṁ4 NO

This will be fun to track later in the year!

@Ziddletwix i’m hoping there’s some good fights for like #6 and #7

@mattyb Yup. Plus, a single big movie can upend the whole thing (shifting everything else down).

i have a very poor sense of the 2nd half of the year. i think dune will be rough ballpark 700M, but i can't see too many things I expect to necessarily pass that (except despicable me & deadpool). which would be an extraordinarily bleak year lol (which tends to be the direction of my predictions). so i assume i'll be wrong about one of the fall releases.
