What will the highest score on the CritPt benchmark be at the end of November 2026, as listed by Epoch AI?
CritPt is a set of unpublished, research-level physics problems written by working physicists. A model has to produce the final answer to a full research-style problem, not pick from multiple choice.
Resolution source: Epoch AI's CritPt page, https://epoch.ai/benchmarks/critpt. The same numbers are in Epoch's downloadable file https://epoch.ai/data/benchmark_data.zip (file critpt_external.csv, column Accuracy).
How it resolves: I take the highest Accuracy of any model listed. A model counts if it was publicly released on or before November 30, 2026. I check on December 3, 2026, so a score Epoch adds in the first days of December still counts as long as the model came out by Nov 30. Any lab and any reasoning setting counts.
State at creation (Nov 1, 2026): the top is Gemini 4 Carbon (high) at 36.0%, added Oct 28. Next are GPT-5.6 Sol (max) at 32.3%, and GPT-6 Astra (max), Claude Opus 5.5 (max) and GPT-6.1 Sol (max), all at 31.7%. The record went 12.6% (Aug 2025), 25.7% (Feb 2026), 30.0% (Mar), 32.3% (Jul), 36.0% (Oct).
Answers (the score is not rounded before comparing):
Below 38%
38% to below 42%
42% to below 46%
46% or higher
If Epoch removes the benchmark or stops updating it, I use the last version published before the deadline. I won't trade in this market.

My take: Below 38% is the most likely answer, maybe 55%. Then about 25% for 38–42, 12% for 42–46 and 8% for 46 or higher.
The record just moved from 32.3% to 36% with Gemini 4 Carbon, and that took three and a half months. The other big jumps came about one release apart, and none of them added more than about 9 points at once. To get past 38% this month, something new has to land and get scored in time. GPT-6.2 Astra has shown up in Codex logs, and a new Claude Fable is possible, so that could happen. But GPT-6 Astra and Opus 5.5 both stalled near 32%, so a new model doesn't automatically mean a new record.
What would change my mind: a new frontier model released before mid-November with physics results reported well above Gemini 4 Carbon's.
