Resolution criteria

This market resolves to YES if the individual officially certified as the winner of the 2028 United States presidential election has served as the Governor of any of the 50 U.S. states at any point prior to taking office.

  • The individual must have held the official office of Governor; serving strictly as a Lieutenant Governor, acting governor, or interim official performing gubernatorial duties without holding the office of Governor does not count.

  • If the certified winner has never served as a governor of a U.S. state, this market resolves to NO.

  • Resolution will occur once the winner is determined by official certification of the Electoral College results by the U.S. Congress (typically on January 6, 2029) or upon inauguration if certification is delayed or contested. The market may resolve early if the result is clear, according to the Associated Press.

  • Sources for verification include official state government rosters and the National Governors Association.
