This market is for the Championship of Manifold's G.O.A.T. tournament, the final round of a series of markets to determine who Manifold thinks is the "Greatest of All Time" (G.O.A.T.).

Resolution Criteria:

This market will be determined by the greater number of individual holders of YES shares at market close. For example, if the market is Winston Churchill v Pierre-Simon Laplace, Winston Churchill will win if there are 8 individual YES holders on his market, and only 7 individual YES holders of Laplace at the time of market close.

Bot trades do not count towards determining winners.

I will settle any ties, and am happy to offer my opinion on any matchups before the market closes. I am also willing to consider any arguments for/against a contestant before making my decision.

The scheduled close date of this market is at 11:59PM CST on June 9th.

I'd just like to say, did Einstein ever put his money where his mouth is? No! He just ran his mouth! No one seems to ever remember all the times Einstein was wrong! He even denied the existence of black holes! The man rejected the implications of his own ideas!

Newton though... now there is a man who will bet his life savings on his beliefs, so that his greatest successes and greatest failures may be remembered by all. Truly, Isaac Newton would have been loved and adored at Manifold! Not Einstein with his crazy theories which were wrong as often as they were right, who just spewed predictions left and right leaving it up to others to separate the wheat from the chaff! Vote for Newton if you value people putting their money where their mouth is!

@houstonEuler

These are independent so how do NO shares work in terms of voting?

@Ziddletwix Updated the description, thanks for catching it.

@houstonEuler just to check if I get it right - buying NO does not affect the vote in any way, right? What decides the vote is just the number of YES holders, IIUC.

@BrunoParga The winner will resolve YES, and the loser NO.

Only the number of individual YES share holders at market close will be used to determine the winner.

Purchasing NO shares allows people to profit on an answer they feel will lose, or to subsidize another YES buyer on an answer they want to win.

bought แน€1 Albert Einstein (YES) NO

Darwin might have stood a chance against einstein, but let's be honest with ourselves, newton may have stood on the shoulders of giants, but einstein squished the giants, from whose relative frame of reference he was the giant, and they were but tiny pathetic bugs. newton discovered a fake theory that einstein showed was wrong, anyway. embarrassing. cringe. eww.

@Bayesian Thou dare criticize Newton using technology that would not exist without his contributions? Thou art a hypocrite!
