By 2050, will development of biotechnology and genetic engineering render term "transgender" useless?

Now, serious question, because I gained hope in the platform. If complete body(or mind) change becomes easy enough, allowing to have sex same as gender, would it mean that term "gender" is gradually lost, and everyone will be just using body-related terms as they are more obvious?

NO here for three reasons:

  • I doubt that level of biological modification will be possible by 2050.

  • Insurance - because I really wish it would be possible by then, and if it's not, I better make some play money profits as a result.

  • I imagine that it would take a long, long time for the term "transgender" to stop being used - the average trans person in 2050 will certainly be old enough to remember a time when such biological modification wasn't possible on a whim. In addition, even if I was able to change my entire body overnight, I would continue to identify as transgender, because of my history - i.e. I spent the first 19 years of my life closeted, I got semi-disowned by my family and faced a lot of additional social pressure, I had to navigate legally changing my name and gender (while also navigating college and a shitty job market,) etc...that's stuff that doesn't just go away, and it's always going to shape who I am.

@evergreenemily It seems reasonable. I'll account that opinion.
