I work as a team leader in a fintech company with 20k+ employees. My team is a mixture of finance SMEs and data analysts working on a significant amount of legacy issues. My manager has moved to another team and the company is sourcing a replacement. I am unsure if this will be someone from within the company or not. Do you think my new manager will come from an internal application or external?
I have no transparency on candidates in the pipeline but AMA and I can give any information I have in the comments.
Updates from comments:
Advantages of external:
wider pool of talent to chose from
brings in fresh ideas from prior work experience
larger external network
Disadvantages of external:
slower ramp up time
less internal network
more difficult to establish credibility
Currently most other managers in this company grew up within the firm.
