Because of increasing tensions with Russia and the war in Ukraine, many european contries are discussing reviving compulsory military service.
Currently AFAIK, these countries in Europe practice conscription: Austria, Estonia, Denmark (extended to women in March 2024), Finland, Greece, Latvia (reinstated in 2023), Lithuania (reinstated in 2015), Norway, Sweden (reinstated in 2018), Switzerland and Ukraine.
