Resolution criteria

This market will resolve to YES if Oleksandr Syrskyi officially holds the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at 11:59 PM Kyiv time (EEST) on August 1, 2026.

If he is dismissed, resigns, is replaced, or otherwise officially leaves the office of Commander-in-Chief on or before this time, the market will resolve to NO. An announcement of a future replacement that takes effect after August 1, 2026, will resolve to YES, provided Syrskyi remains officially in office on that date.

The primary source of truth for resolution will be the official decrees of the President of Ukraine (president.gov.ua) or reliable coverage from major news organizations (e.g., Reuters, Financial Times, Ukrainska Pravda).

Background

In mid-July 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed the popular and reform-minded Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. Following his removal, Fedorov publicly clashed with Commander-in-Chief General Oleksandr Syrskyi, accusing the general of resisting critical modernization initiatives, blocking reforms, and issuing an ultimatum to secure Fedorov's ouster.
