The Tesla website claims that the Cybertruck is "built for any planet". This is obviously false, but let's be excessively charitable here and assume that by "any", Elon means "the one particular one I'm trying to get to next".
I'm still skeptical. The cab isn't airtight, but ok, maybe the driver is supposed to wear a spacesuit inside. But how are the radiator and brakes supposed to dissipate heat in an atmosphere 2% the density of Earth's? If the owner's manual has to state "Do not expose Cybertruck to ambient temperatures below -30° ) for more than 24 hours at a time", is it really going to be ok on a planet with an average temperature of -63° C?
I'll resolve this to YES if it turns out the Cybertruck can drive at least passibly on Mars. Doesn't have to be amazing, but it needs to be useful for some reasonable practical task.
This resolves according to the model of Cybertruck being sold in 2024, not future revisions.
Update 2024-30-12 (PST): - Minimum usability duration: Brief operations (e.g., drives of 10 minutes) are considered insufficient for a YES resolution. (AI summary of creator comment)
@DanHomerick good point, @IsaacKing for this market to work either you need to set an objective usability threshold or you need to sell your shares
