China gets land access to a port along the coast of the sea of Japan, east of North Korea, in land today controlled by Russia

It could be via conquest or negotiation or other methods. As long as they can carry things into it directly from the rest of mainland china to load onto ships.

Doing it through north Korean land doesn't count.they must control the port for at least a month and it must be really working and loading shops. Not just plans or construction.

Note: when talking about land, I'm referring to 2023 ownership. So even if China officially buys NK land and then builds a port, it won't count, since that's still 2023 NK land. They have to do it through 2023 Russian land.

Related but undercuts need slightly

Just thinking, China does touch a river which looks to then flow on between NK and Russia a few miles to the sea. If that were widened and deepened, we could have a situation where NK and Russia still keep their bridge connection, but China (and the other two) would all be able to launch into the river and travel out to the Sea of Japan.

This would not count as direct land access to the Sea of Japan but could be pretty useful. And as the remains of the river got wider/deeper and more resembled a sea, you might consider it to satisfy this claim at some threshold??

@Ernie It wouldn't be on land today controlled by Russia though

@JoshuaWilkes ah, true. Would be a cool compromise if the countries involved ever cared more about economic efficiency than state competition and politics.
