To resolve YES a celebrity must survive the last year and be added to the new list in the #1 spot. Their rules state that up to 25 of the 50 candidates from the previous year can be added to the next year' s list.

  • Update 2025-12-23 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Duplicate answers will not be refunded or resolved based on original value. The creator will not resolve the entire market to N/A due to duplicate answers, as this could allow bad actors to intentionally ruin markets by adding duplicates.

  • Update 2025-12-23 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Duplicate answers will be resolved independently based on the market outcome, not necessarily both to the same value. The creator does not prefer the solution of resolving duplicate answers identically.

  • Update 2025-12-23 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Duplicate answers will not both resolve to 50%. If duplicate answers exist, they will be resolved independently and may have different resolution outcomes.

@mods how often do people Na and remake in this circumstance. in the past ive both NAed and resolved to the one older answer/bet down the duplicate. what is best practice today?

@strutheo Tell your traders which one is correct and which one resolves No. And if you don't want people adding duplicates, add the answers yourself.

@strutheo You should probably sell the shares you bought on a Duplicate answer to the person who accidentally bought them while not understanding how it worked.

@Eliza I'm closing the market for now. If you can't link up with @JohnChampaign to sell back those shares directly to him, I'll N/A this market within a day or so.

I don't think it's right for you to buy No in the duplicate option as the market creator without previously explaining the rules. If another trader had done it as a risk, then it's whatever, but for the market creator it feels unfair.

my intent was to indicate to others 'this was the wrong answer' since nobody did it sooner but yea i see why

@strutheo I don't understand the motivation for selling the shares, I think this is clearly a case where betting on your own market is fine. Criteria is objective, duplicate resolution plan is clear and predictable.

boughtṀ40 NO

@strutheo It doesn't seem right that you're trading answers that you've changed to be duplicates. They should be refunded (or resolved based on its original value).

@JohnChampaign theres unfortunately no way to do this in linked MC markets, the only thing to do is NA the whole thing (and that means someone can purposely add duplicate answers to ruin a market if you commit to that decision)

usually we just mark them as duplicate and bet them down to zero , the only 3 traders on this had YES shares automatically given to them bc they had bought YES on other afaik

if @mods have a better idea im up for it

@strutheo You can just leave the duplicates and resolve them the same way - both yes or both no. Traders will keep their values close together if they know they'll have the same resolution.

@JohnChampaign If you look at the trades, I spent 33 mana that you've seized from me by changing the answer.

@JohnChampaign usually that isnt done because people expect one to go to 100% , i dont really like that solution

the real answer is for manifold to not allow this to happen </3

sorry i took your mana ill managram you back if you want

in an ideal world someone would have caught and bet down the duplicate sooner, and people usually trade the earlier answer

someone else was going to, this was never resolving both to 50%

Umm. I meant to add Cliff Richard, but I mispelt his name. My addition is earlier but is as I said mispelt. How to proceed @strutheo

And add Paul Simon on The Deathlist 2026

@BrownieBites you can add them too btw ! It's in the search bar

Okay

Pope Francis has already died

And add Cliff Richard on The Deathlist 2026

And add Yoko Ono on The Deathlist 2026

Add John Cleese on The Deathlist 2026
