@Stralor @shankypanky @ian @SG This is Your Favorite President. I’m easily the best user on the site—very active, very smart, and I know a lot about Manifold. Everyone says so. I make great markets, great comments, and I understand how everything works better than almost anyone.

You should probably make me a moderator. It would be tremendous for the platform.

@Stralor i can vouch for him, he has the upmost integrity and is what this platform need

@JeromeHPowell I don't make the call. I like their joy and fervor and engagement with the community, and having a bit of fame on the site is a good indicator, but I will say I don't think an impersonator account that is high-mischief and low-responsibility is well suited to a role that is mostly about doing high-trust maintenance work.

A mod by 2030? I think it's a real possibility, if they continue to be a positive presence on the site and grow into a user known for honesty and reliability! Would I mod them today, if I were making the decision (which, again, I'm not)? No.

@Stralor (re: "impersonator account". I'm not saying they need to send over their ID and get a background check and a lie detector test. Plenty of pseudonymous folks have been made moderators in the past. But play-acting a celebrity is not the same thing as pseudonymous)

@Stralor I mean, it’s pretty funny but I see your point!

@JeromeHPowell Yeah, I think there's nothing wrong with fun! Innocent mischief is all good in my book, so I hope they continue to get joy out of it for awhile

@realDonaldTrump always worth it to state your interest (and a crowd favourite to do that via a market of course!) and it's very on-brand to make your case in a DJT-style comment too 😅

I don't make the calls solo, though I can say we're lucky to have a pretty solid team of Mods at the moment and are pretty well covered for Mod duties for now so not actively looking.

while there isn't a "formal process" for identifying Mods, as @Stralor says, the baseline is active users known for reliability and objectivity - it's a big and important job, and traders trust folks with a Mod badge make impersonal decisions on the outcome of markets. so the best way to be considered in the future is to have a reputation for being truth-seeking above all else (which is absolutely not in conflict with having fun or making fun markets here, obviously!) when it counts.

@SirSalty 🙏

Better a mod than president.

@DaniellqdC6 You would thhink so
