YES if, on or before December 31, 2025, 11:59 PM PT, Tesla begins operating an on-demand ride service in California that:
uses Tesla vehicles driving with no human driver on board (no safety driver or in-car operator),
is available to the general public (non-employees; public sign-ups or app access are sufficient, even if limited/waitlisted), and
completes at least one rider trip in 2025 in California.
NO if any of the following:
Only announcements, demos, or limited rides restricted to employees/guests/VIPs.
Any ride where a human is physically in the vehicle as a driver/operator.
Closed technical pilots with no public sign-up/request path.
Regulatory approvals or permits without actual service operation in 2025.
Service start date is in 2026 or later.
Notes & Sources of Truth (in order):
Official Tesla communications (press release, blog, or @Tesla/@elonmusk posts) affirming a California service start and location(s);
California CPUC/DMV program listings/permits confirming driverless deployment authority;
Credible press reporting and/or Tesla’s rider-facing app/landing page indicating live service and coverage area.
If sources conflict, require evidence of a completed public trip in California during 2025. Remote monitoring/assistance (not on-board) does not disqualify.
Early Resolution: Resolves YES as soon as the first qualifying public trip is evidenced; later suspension does not change the outcome.
