If there is a direct military conflict between China and the US involving their respective navies, will the general consensus be that a given Chinese ship outclasses its equivalent American ship in combat utility?

Resolves according to general consensus, where best-effort will be made to avoid propagandistic sources that will inevitably proliferate in the case of such a conflict. This may require waiting for months or years after the battle in question concludes.

Resolves N/A if no such conflict occurs by market end.

If a given Chinese ship outclasses an "equivalent" American ship, does it not follow the ships are not equivalent ?

predicts NO

you also need to account for tonnage. Destroyers or frigates can be wildly different in size

@JoshuaWilkes or carriers for that matter
