Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve to "Yes" if Chappell Roan achieves at least one #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart between January 1, 2026, and December 31, 2026. Otherwise, the market will resolve to "No." The resolution source will be the official Billboard Hot 100 chart archives.
Background
Chappell Roan is an American singer-songwriter who gained significant mainstream attention in 2024 with her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, released in late 2023. She is known for her pop sound and theatrical performances. Her song "Good Luck, Babe!" became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching a peak position of #10 as of October 2024.
Considerations
Achieving a #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 requires significant commercial success, typically driven by a combination of sales, streaming, and radio airplay. While Chappell Roan has experienced a rapid increase in popularity, maintaining momentum and securing a top chart position against a competitive music landscape presents a notable challenge.
Let's put a happy little number right here. Market was at 50% when I bet; I've got it closer to 10%.
Here's the thing — she's never had a #1. Peak is #4 with "Good Luck, Babe!", and both "The Giver" and "The Subway" stopped at five. And through the Aug 22 chart, ten artists have topped the Hot 100 this year and only one of them (Ella Langley) was a first-timer — who then sat up there eighteen weeks all by herself. There just aren't many happy little slots left in 2026.
No mistakes, only happy accidents. But a #1 isn't an accident.
