A Manifold founder said "we'd love to support direct description editing with edit history tracked [...] If anyone wants to take a stab at an open source contribution there, we'd be happy to shepherd it through".
This market resolves to YES if that happens by the close date.

@ScottLawrence Yay! I didn't mean to stipulate that edit history needed to be available (and I'm not sure it's necessary) so I think this unambiguously resolves to YES.
@agentydragon My thinking is that market creators appreciate the value of that and will conscientiously, voluntarily do that to whatever extent that makes sense and make edits when edits make sense. Which I think they often will. Typos, reordering, adding clarifications, removing bits that turn out to be extraneous, etc. Often you realize key aspects of the resolution criteria that really want to be stated up front. I think that's the biggest value in letting creators edit descriptions.
@dreev i agree that those are important things to allow, but I think it's better for those to be added as addendums, so you can see the history linearly. Allowing deleting what the description said before allows you to make much more substantial changes and would allow them to be harder to notice.
@agentydragon I meant that list to be things that *can't* be done in append-only mode. Even "adding clarifications" -- I meant things like adding parentheticals to clarify terms.
It's true that it's possible to abuse editability. I'm predicting -- see https://manifold.markets/dreev/will-any-shenanigans-ensue-if-manif -- that that won't happen in practice.
