Background
Italy currently requires non-EU foreigners to reside in Italy for 10 years before obtaining citizenship by residency.
On 8 June and 9 June 2025, Italy will hold a referendum to reduce the required residency period from 10 to 5 years. The referendum will carry if voter turnout exceeds 50% and the majority of valid votes are in favour of the proposal.
Resolution criteria
This market will resolve YES if the citizenship referendum carries.
This market will resolve NO if the quorum is not met or if a majority of valid votes are against the proposal.
