when I was a kid there was a specific feeling I would always get when some sort of voting procedure had to be chosen in school. The feeling was triggered every time I had to hear arguments like "we shouldn't discuss this decision before voting because that would be influencing others" or "abstaining is vote manipulation" or "approval voting is unfair because it is not 'one person one vote'".

@Wott to be fair, making money on upcoming war due to insider information one day before it happens doesn't seem like a good thing to me. It doesn't serve any predictive goals as the information comes out way too late, it just moves money from ordinary people to people directly involved in war.
In general if you're the only one with insider info on something happening, it often makes sense to keep it to yourself, let market price fall down as low as possible due to time decay and buy at the latest possible moment, contributing nothing to the predictive power of the market.
