Resolution criteria
This market will resolve to the calendar date on which the first human successfully reaches their 125th birthday.
The age and birthdate of the individual must be formally verified and accepted by at least one major recognized longevity organization: Guinness World Records, the Gerontology Research Group (GRG), LongeviQuest. List of the verified oldest people on Wikipedia can be used if there is no controversy or edit war.
Each option is closed as No when the date passes without any official announcement. If it becomes retrospectively known that a person lived to 125 in the past, the market resolution is not reverted.
Background
The longest-lived human in recorded history with fully verified records was Jeanne Calment of France, who died in 1997 at the age of 122 years and 164 days. No other human has been verified to reach the age of 120.
As of October 2026, the oldest living verified person in the world is Ethel Caterham of the United Kingdom, who was born on August 21, 1909. To become the first person to turn 125, she would need to survive until August 21, 2034.
