Resolution criteria

The next Italian general election will occur no later than 22 December 2027, though it may be called earlier as a snap election. Each answer resolves YES if that party is part of the government coalition formed following the election. Parties that are not part of the government coalition resolve NO. If a party dissolves or merges before the election, it resolves N/A. Resolution will be based on official announcements from the Italian President's office or the Prime Minister regarding coalition composition.

Background

The Meloni government is the current government of the Italian Republic, headed by Giorgia Meloni, leader of Brothers of Italy, and was sworn in on 22 October 2022. The current coalition includes FdI, the League, Forza Italia, and Us Moderates. Italian politics is characterized by a high degree of fragmentation and instability, with Italy having had 69 governments since 1945, at an average of one every 1.11 years.

Considerations

Disagreements have surfaced within the current coalition on EU policy, such as an EU no-confidence motion against Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in July 2025, where FdI and Forza Italia opposed while Lega supported. Coalition stability through 2027 is uncertain, and early elections remain possible if the government loses a confidence vote.
