It took me a minute to work out that the paper in question wasn't satirical. The hovertext thing is clever, I suppose? It still sort of seems like you're eliding the problem and scooping it under the rug of another interface layer instead of addressing it, but I'm not sure it's a huge problem to begin with, so . . . I guess?
@AndrewHartman I was super confused about whether it is satirical or not. If it was published two days earlier (and maybe also by someone less famous than Erik Demaine) I would just say it’s a joke.
