Congrats.

What's the latest you'd start climbing?

@Qoiuoiuoiu we have headlamps. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@LarsOsborne @EvanDaniel are you two gonna have an Epic on a work night?

(Jk, I realize this is just a single pitch at a roadside crag)

@Qoiuoiuoiu Apparently, a bit before 7PM :)

We got there, a couple other folks were on the route, so we waited a bit. Lars and I both did a lap on top rope, then I sent it on gear. Light was fading as I was lowering off, but I didn't need the headlamp.

@EvanDaniel

You at the crag yet?

bought Ṁ15 YES

@EvanDaniel you at the crag yet?

@snazzlePop Sadly, Evan has a job.

His belayer (me) also has a job and a meeting that is supposed to end at 5pm.

@LarsOsborne got it.

sorry for my double message. I too am a working man, and sometimes my connectivity is spotty.

@snazzlePop I think all of you would be better off with less working, more playing.

On my last attempt I found a gopher snake!

Can you post the mp link for the route?

Before betting, I want to understand if this is actually dangerous or not. Is it more dangerous than driving a car 100,000 miles? I just need to be sure I'm not encouraging anything dangerous

@Eliza if he does injure himself, this may qualify as insider trading injuries...

Edit: actually maybe not, it has to be "reported on in the major news media". Oh well.

@DylanRichardson the route is outside though

@LarsOsborne I shall not let him escape judgement through technicalities like that!!

@Eliza Gemini tells me the risk of being in a crash during 100,000 miles driven is 25% and about a 12% chance of injury.

This is less risky than that.

If his protection starts getting run out I will let him know.

bought Ṁ100 NO

@LarsOsborne So perhaps you think it's about comparable to doing a cross-country road trip? I'm okay with betting on that as long as it won't increase the risk of danger.

@EvanDaniel time to put up or shut up!!!

@Eliza Good statistics are very hard to come by (as always). It definitely depends on the details of what you're climbing and what sorts of judgment calls you make and your risk tolerance. My current best guess is that this sort of climbing is hazardous at a level of several micromorts per year, maybe as many as 10, based on number of participants and number of deaths. Risk of injury is higher. I think cross-country road trip is probably a good comparison for death or serious injury rates; climbing definitely has a higher risk of minor to moderate injury.

@EvanDaniel Thank you, this really helps give me a ballpark for where this activity stands. I'm content with my decision to bet less than 100 mana directly against you in this endeavor. Good luck!
