Some kind of moon marathon, self propelled people only. Dist must be at least earth marathon
Edit 10/30/2023: at least one person has to actually complete the race as designed. Even a practice run counts. Basically, someone has to lay out, plan, and do a marathon like run on the moon. It may vary in distance, rules, etc from earth marathons, and that can be adjudicated more closely as time passes.
I don't really like to bet on a market with a close so far away, but this has to be 80%+. The year 2100! We will have multiple permanently inhabited moonbases by 2050 IMO. There will probably be an inter-base Moon Olympics with members representing at least ten different nations (though perhaps only two bases) by 2100.
Also extremely (un)important clarification: does it count as a marathon if a competition is organised but only one person participates? What if one is organised and there are multiple participants but none complete it?
@calderknight Whooo yeah this is the kind of imagination I'm looking for!
We could do with a 2060 version, too!
I'll update description with your questions!
@calderknight also those are some good ideas! Intermoon Olympics, permanently inhabited moons, moon citizenship etc lets go
@Ernie as a competitive event? Unlikely.
As something someone does as a solo effort? I'd say 25% chance.
@WilliamLane depends, you can run pretty fast on the moon what with the 20 foot long strides and all
And you can carry a lot of mass
