Resolution criteria

This market resolves to YES if the UK Labour Party wins reelection in the next UK general election held on or before August 15, 2029. "Winning reelection" is defined as satisfying either of the following criteria following the election:

  1. The Labour Party wins an overall majority of seats in the House of Commons (at least 326 of 650 seats).

  2. The Labour Party forms a government (whether majority, minority, or coalition) resulting in a Labour Party member holding the position of Prime Minister immediately following the post-election government formation.

If another political party forms the government or a non-Labour MP becomes Prime Minister following the election, this market resolves to NO.

Resolution will be determined based on official announcements from the UK Parliament (Just a moment... ) and coverage from major news organizations (e.g., BBC News).

Background

The Labour Party formed a government following the UK general election held on July 4, 2024. Under the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act 2022, the maximum term of a Parliament is five years from the date it first meets. As Parliament met on July 9, 2024, the next UK general election must take place no later than August 15, 2029, unless an earlier election is called by the Prime Minister.
