Resolution criteria
This market resolves to YES if Alice Weidel is officially appointed and sworn in as the Chancellor of Germany (Bundeskanzler) at any time before January 1, 2030, 00:00 UTC. Otherwise, the market resolves to NO.
Official confirmation of her appointment from the German Bundestag (https://www.bundestag.de) or the official portal of the Federal Chancellor (https://www.bundeskanzler.de) will serve as the primary source of truth.
Background
Alice Weidel serves as co-chair of the right-wing party Alternative for Germany (AfD) alongside Tino Chrupalla. Ahead of the February 2025 snap federal election, the AfD selected Weidel as its candidate for chancellor. Although the AfD has expanded its voter base and parliamentary representation, established mainstream political parties in Germany have historically maintained a policy (often referred to as a "firewall" or Brandmauer) against entering into governing coalitions with the party.
