Resolution criteria
This market is independent multiple choice. Each option represents a target date by which Christopher Nolan's film The Odyssey (2026) must cross the $1,000,000,000 ($1 billion) USD worldwide box office milestone.
Primary Source: The worldwide box office gross as reported by The Numbers or Box Office Mojo. If a conflict or reporting lag arises, the highest verified figure between these two sources will be used.
Milestone Date: The date of crossing will be based on the official tracking day the box office total surpassed $1 billion (e.g., if Sunday, August 9, 2026 box office numbers push the total over $1 billion, the crossing date is August 9, even if those final numbers are published on August 10).
Resolving Options:
An option worded "Before DD-MM-YYYY" will resolve to YES if the movie's worldwide gross reaches or exceeds $1 billion USD on a date strictly prior to that date. Otherwise, it will resolve to NO.
"Never" will resolve to YES if The Odyssey does not reach the $1 billion USD worldwide gross milestone on or before September 27, 2026. Otherwise, it will resolve to NO.
Note: All dates are formatted as Day-Month-Year (DD-MM-YYYY).
Background
Directed by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey is an epic 2026 action-fantasy adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek poem. Starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, and Anne Hathaway, the film was released in theaters on July 17, 2026.
In its opening weekend, the high-budget Universal Pictures production grossed $124.5 million domestically and debuted to $264 million globally. This makes it Nolan's best non-Batman opening ever and sets it on a strong commercial trajectory. This market tracks how quickly—if at all—the film's global box office run will propel it past the $1 billion mark.
