Resolution Criteria
This market resolves to YES if Katy Young Yaroslavsky wins re-election to the Los Angeles City Council District 5 seat in the 2026 election. It resolves to NO if she loses the election, does not run, or is otherwise not elected. If she wins the election but for any reason does not take office afterwards, it resolves to YES.
Background
Katy Young Yaroslavsky was first elected to represent Los Angeles City Council District 5 in 2022, succeeding Paul Koretz who was termed out. She took office in December 2022. District 5 includes neighborhoods such as Bel Air, Greater Wilshire, Pico-Robertson, and parts of Westwood.
Los Angeles City Council members serve four-year terms, making 2026 the year when Yaroslavsky would be up for re-election for her first potential second term.
Considerations
City Council elections in Los Angeles can be affected by factors such as redistricting, which could potentially change district boundaries before 2026.
Term limits for Los Angeles City Council members allow for up to three four-year terms (12 years total).
