Resolution criteria
Resolves YES if, before market close, Donald J. Trump publicly states in his own words that he is or would be a “good,” “great,” or “the best” dictator (or clearly equivalent phrasing), or affirmatively answers a direct question to that effect. The statement must explicitly pair “dictator” with a positive self‑assessment and refer to himself or his prospective/actual presidency.
Acceptable evidence: on‑camera remarks or official transcripts; posts on his verified accounts (e.g., Truth Social); prepared remarks on campaign/government sites. Primary sources take precedence over secondary reporting
Exclusions: statements about being a dictator without a positive qualifier; praise of foreign “dictators”/“strongmen”; quotes attributed by others; AI/deepfakes; crowd chants; headlines paraphrasing without the quoted wording.
If sources conflict, resolve using the clearest primary recording/transcript. If no qualifying statement occurs before close, resolves NO.
Background
Trump previously said he would be a “dictator … on day one” when pressed by Sean Hannity in Iowa on December 5–6, 2023, but framed it around border/drilling and did not claim he’d be a “good/best” dictator. (cnbc.com)
Coverage has noted his favorable comments about certain authoritarian leaders; however, that does not meet this market’s requirement for a positive self‑description as a “dictator.” (politico.com)
Considerations
Tone (joking/sarcastic) does not matter if the qualifying words are clearly stated in a primary source.
Deleted posts are valid if they were verifiably published (screenshots alone don’t count; use archives or platform confirmations).
I will not trade in this market.
