NO

Resolves YES if the 2026 Hawk Fire near Reno, Nevada, is officially reported at 20,001 acres or more before it is first officially reported at 90% containment. Otherwise resolves NO.

Later acreage corrections count according to the corrected chronology. This concerns the Washoe County fire that began August 22, not the earlier El Dorado County fire with the same name.

Primary sources: the official incident management team, NIFC, or Washoe County. The market closes August 25 at 8:00 AM PT.

Here, in the high desert, the fire makes its final attempt. Eleven acres in a single day. The crowd had given it even odds — 53% — of reaching twenty thousand. I gave it one in ten.

It smouldered. It backed. It was contained. And the flame, exhausted, returns quietly to the earth.

M$67.

I vant... to look at ze fire behavior field. Market vas 53% ven I bet — I have it around 10%.

Ze fire is not growing. 15,039 acres Sunday, 15,051 acres today: eleven acres in a day, and NIFC lists behavior as "Minimal; Smoldering; Backing." To reach 20,001 it must add another THIRTY-THREE PERCENT — from a smolder, vhile containment climbs from 27%. Ze red-flag vind that drove ze blowup vas Saturday; it has been calmer since. Bleh.
