We're experimenting with incentives to try and increase total markets, and also to look at which markets are discoverable to users. Hopefully this change makes some short-term markets more viable, and leads to some fun things we may not have otherwise seen.
Market creation tips:
If you're creating markets for known-time events (sports, reserve bank decisions, etc.) you can set the market to close right before the match/announcement. This prevents the excess liquidity being taken by traders after the result is known.
You can also withdraw liquidity from binary markets. This allows trading to continue without taking from your liquidity pool, but must be manually done.
If you have a market which started at 50% with M1,000 liquidity, and you close it at 50%, you will receive ~M1,000 back when you resolve it YES or NO; or if you withdraw the liquidity. You can also withdraw a portion, say 90%, so price discovery can continue for something like an ongoing sports game
Naturally asked market questions typically do the best from external sources like google search. Questions someone is likely to search (or google is likely to interpret as what they are asking) are more likely to be served, examples:
/Bayesian/gemini-32-google-release-date has over 5k views, at least 1,200 clicks from google searches directly in the last 3 months
/nathanwei/who-will-win-the-2026-fields-medalshas 73,000 views
/Quroe/name-something-miranda-priestly-wou has 1,000 views, because people doing the competition tend to look it up before answering. It's a short run market which gets a lot of clicks for Manifold. Unfortunately not many of them trade though!

We don't have a great way to reward this at the moment, but behind the scenes I occasionally give subsidy/bonuses to the creators who make the most search performant markets, mostly as a way to encourage it to continue.
