Resolution Criteria
This question resolves YES if, on or before 2027-12-31, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Alphabet, or one of their controlled subsidiaries:
acquires a registered broker-dealer,
takes a controlling equity stake in a broker-dealer,
obtains majority voting control of a broker-dealer, or
otherwise assumes operational control of a broker-dealer.
For resolution purposes:
The broker-dealer must be registered with FINRA, the SEC, CIRO, IIROC, or another equivalent securities regulator.
Both direct and indirect acquisitions count.
Joint ventures count only if the AI company clearly holds operational control.
Resolution sources may include SEC filings, FINRA BrokerCheck, acquisition announcements, regulatory approvals, company press releases, or major financial-media reporting.
Fine Print
The following do NOT count:
Minority passive investments;
Strategic partnerships;
Cloud-provider agreements;
API integrations;
Referral relationships;
White-label technology arrangements;
Acquisitions of firms that are not registered broker-dealers.
Acquiring an RIA alone does not count unless the entity is also a registered broker-dealer.
