takeoff.watch forecast: 7%. OpenAI's for-profit is a public benefit corporation still controlled by the nonprofit OpenAI Foundation through special Class N shares. Altman has defended the structure and pushed the IPO to 2027. YES mostly needs a lenient resolver to count that PBC as a "standard C Corp".

MSFT got a seat at the board, but an observer i.e. non-voting seat. Clearly shows that they're still holding onto their values for voting members being free of financial incentives. I'd say its unlikely for OpenAI to become a C corp now

This needs some clarification. They have a complex ownership / board structure.

Is it sufficient for a C Corp to appear anywhere in this diagram? Do the non-profit aspects need to go? Does the C Corp need to have conventional ownership and control by shareholders?

I think "OpenAI is majority controlled by for-profit shareholders" would be one reasonable way to write the question (although that still might have some tricky aspects to work out).

@jack What is "OpenAI"? The majority of the employees? The for-profit subsidiary? Something else?
