If he signs a franchise tag contract and is then traded, is this resolved as NO? Because technically he would have re-signed with the Ravens for 2023, although effectively not playing for them.

@vmjusto Good point. If he signs a franchise tag contract this would resolve YES. Whatever happens after would not affect resolution.

@dglid if the Ravens use the non-exclusive tag, does Lamar have to sign it before he negotiates with other teams? Or would he not need to sign it if he was traded to another team under the non-exclusive tag?

Meaning: a non-exclusive tag would not be signed by him, it merely represents a priority for the team placing the tag. If he finds a market better than what the Ravens would pay him, they would get the picks and never actually sign him. The exclusive tag prohibits Lamar from getting offers, so his options would be to either sign it or hold out for the year.

@vmjusto Yeah this sort of aligns with what I had gathered as well, just wasn’t sure of the actual signing step.
