Will QS announce that they've either begun work or will begin working on a large form factor cell. Specific size must be announced, and to be considered "large form factor" it must have a capacity greater than 10 Ah.

Resolution criteria

This market resolves YES if QuantumScape or Quantumscape affiliate (i.e., PowerCo, VW, etc.) publicly announces (via press release, earnings call, investor presentation, or official company communication) that they have begun work or will begin working on a large form factor cell in 2026, using Quantumscape's separator, with a cell capacity greater than 10 Ah disclosed. The announcement must explicitly state the capacity (or capacity range) in amp-hours (Ah). Resolution sources include QuantumScape's (and affiliate) investor relations websites and official press releases.

This market resolves NO if no such announcement is made by December 31, 2026.

Background

QuantumScape's current first commercial product, the QSE-5, has a capacity of 5 Ah. The company expects to ship sample cells for testing in 2026, and its pilot production line (Eagle Line) is expected to be inaugurated in February 2026. QuantumScape has a licensing agreement with Volkswagen's PowerCo unit that grants rights to produce up to 40 GWh per year of QSE-5 cells.

Considerations

QuantumScape has not publicly announced plans for a large form factor cell (>10 Ah) as of December 2025. The company's current development roadmap focuses on scaling the 5 Ah QSE-5 cell. Any announcement of a larger format would represent a significant strategic shift in product development priorities.

For additional clarity, "Large Form Factor" must be a single cell. Stacking multiple QSE-5 cells into a PowerCo "Unified Cell" won't satisfy this question.
