Resolves to PROB, based off the results of this poll:

I'm testing whether people will like normal polls. Normally creators have done polls by asking people to leave comments but I hypothesize that nicer UI makes a difference!

How does 'resolve to probability' work? Did it resolve to no?

predicted YES

@XComhghall No, it resolved to 43%. Markets don't have to resolve to YES or NO, they can also resolve to anywhere in between.

predicted YES

@XComhghall It means every YES share pays out M$0.43 and every NO share pays out M$0.57

@IsaacKing @Yev I see. Thank you!

Wow, this poll was surprisingly representative of general American sentiment: https://www.hot-dog.org/press/new-polling-shows-most-americans-agree-hot-dog-not-sandwich

And the moving average of the market itself was pretty accurate, too!

predicted YES

How is it that the number of votes has stayed the same, but the percentage of yes votes has gone from 44% to 41%?

This is a pretty thorough answer https://saladtheory.github.io/

I think if someone says they're eating a sandwich, you assume it isn't a hotdog, so in practical usage (what linguists care about), a hotdog is not a sandwich.

Also, I'm unsure how I feel about the results of the poll being viewable.

@Conflux But if I ask you to pass me that sandwich while pointing at a hotdog, you'll know what I mean.

predicted NO

@Yev For me that sounds weird.

predicted YES

@Conflux Are you going to pass it to me or not?

predicted NO

@Yev I'd probably be like "you mean the hotdog?" and then "oh, wait, we're about to have a very iconic argument"

predicted YES

@Conflux Look, English is not my first (or second) language. I forgot the English word for hotdog. Now can you please stop arguing and just pass me that food item I'm obviously asking for?

predicted NO

@Yev I will gladly pass you the food item but I would have actual confusion over what you were referring too, I’d maybe look around to see if there were actual sandwiches nearby.

predicted YES

@Conflux Thanks! *eats the hotdog sandwich*

The legal definition is admittedly not what's in question in this poll, but: https://www.truittandlyons.com/sandwiches-and-the-law
