Currently, when you create a question, one of the options for the close time is "this year". This approach causes a huge number lf markets to all resolve in the end of year. Why does that matter? Because the end of 2023 is going to see a massive rush as people move to take advantage of all the markets who's outcome is almost known. Having market end dates more spread out incentivizes being active on the site at any time, not just in peak times. It would be good for Manifold engagement to change the "end of year" option to something like "in 12 months" or "in 6 months".

It’s January and I’m still making EoY markets (Eo’24). For a lot of longer term bets, this makes sense as a timeframe (e.g. Netflix views). I use the button and hope it doesn’t go away
My suggestion is that the title should start with a default text of "Will [ ] by [one month from now]
You fill in the [ ], and the date automatically changes as you change the market close date, which gives options of 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months.
You can also delete the default and write whatever you want, of course. But I think it's good to have the close date in most titles so it should be the default.
@chrisjbillington I think we're mostly going to see a lot of new bets and markets, as people try to figure out what to do with their mana. And a few especially bad traders will only see their balance reduced because of loan repayments and will functionally be wiped out from the site.
