I'm a 20yo math-y transfem rat in New York this summer (late May till early August) for an internship; bet on things I might do! No munchkinning unless I like it. I reserve the right to resolve anything N/A at any point. Answers will probably be resolved promptly but I reserve the right to delay that. By default, this market refers to the time from when I arrive in NYC for my internship till when I leave the city after having finished it, including short spans of time spent outside of the city.
Feel free to bet/add answers/incentivise me to do things even if you don't know me, though I expect most people trading this to be people I know. DM me at 'shimmeringdroplet' on Discord if you have any questions (or if you don't have any questions and just want to DM me or meet me, I'm open to meeting new people)!
edit: yes yes sorry [AI model] I arrive mid-May but start internship late May, should've clarified
Update 2025-05-05 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The creator clarifies munchkinning as exploiting the wording of the answers in a way that's unintended (e.g., 'trying to maximise number go up at the expense of what the thing was actually meant for'). This clarifies the existing 'No munchkinning unless I like it' rule.
Update 2025-05-07 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The creator provided their perspective on whether attending a pride parade would also be considered attending a political rally/protest:
While it depends on the specific pride parade, the creator states that most pride parades would not qualify as a rally/protest.
Update 2025-05-07 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The creator has provided an update on their estimated arrival time in New York.
The market description previously indicated an arrival in late May.
The creator now states they will arrive in mid-May. The market's active period, as per the description, begins upon their actual arrival in NYC for the internship.

@Marnix From your point of view, would you say your market option and mine here are mutually exclusive? Or would YESing yours necessarily have to YES mine?

@Quroe I don't personally view pride parades as political rallies/protests (especially not the NYC pride parade) but I'll leave it up to @ShimmeringDroplet's opinion
@Quroe I think it would depend on the pride parade, but most pride parades would not qualify as a rally/protest
@TiredCliche when I was a teenager on a school trip we saw a theatre performance of A Summer Night's Dream in the most famous theatre of the nearest large city, and I was totally unable to tell what was going on due to a combination of the archaic language and lack of knowledge of the verse styles and social commentary of the period.
Occasionally I see small clips of theatre performances that seem to similarly make no sense e.g. Cats.
Do you think I would feel similarly lost watching something like Hadestown?
@TheAllMemeingEye No. As opposed to A Midsummer's Night Dream or Cats, Hadestown is a recreation of Greek mythology. It explains the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, and the struggle between Persephone and Hades, and it does so with a 1940s jazz feel.
Maybe a light education in Greek mythology is required, but you can get that in two minutes from Wikipedia
@TiredCliche ah yeah I recognise that one, I think we briefly studied it at secondary school as a starting inspiration for descriptive writing pieces
@TheAllMemeingEye That's super cool! The first time I saw the painting, I was seven years old, and I loved it. Twenty years later I still love it.
