I will resolve according to my best guess at the end of the month. Background: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/gun-free-japan-stunned-shinzo-abe-assassination-rcna37235 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-62098100 Jul 8,

1:52pm: Update: I will give precedence to answers (or replies from their creator) that link to objective source material.

Resolution: It appears the assassin was motivated by "rage" because "his mother’s huge donations to the controversial Unification Church left him poor". Source: https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Abe-murder-suspect-says-life-destroyed-by-17399363.php

Appears to be the Unification Church, aka Moonies. Not an objective source, but here's a place to start looking https://unherd.com/thepost/shinzo-abe-and-the-dark-side-of-japanese-politics/

@piotr what is certain group
@BTE My nose suggests to me that the authorities are lying, that they'd like to make him seem a hair more random/crazy than he actually is, and they don't want to give airtime to the political criticisms he was making.
@Quinn no reason other than the smell?
This is why assassination markets are useful. :-)
