I don't think Apple will come with a new ipad this year. In September 2023 Kuo posted on Twitter to say that new iPads were unlikely before the end of 2023. New iPad models are unlikely before the year's end. There are also rumors that Apple is working on a new iPad Pro, possibly including a 14-inch version, for 2024.

Totally agree. Usually, Apple brings out new iPads in the fall, but it seems doubtful for 2023. Now that its November, time is running out for them to announce any new iPads this year. Even though there might be a chance for a smaller update, like a new iPad mini or iPad Air, it's more likely that any changes will be small. While it made sense to expect updates in early November, Yes I agree that it's becoming more doubtful if we'll see new iPads in 2023.

@AkhilaPitla What about iPad Pro?

NO Apple will not launch new ipad this year

Apple analyst Ming-chi kuo aid the next ‌iPad mini‌ would likely enter mass production in the first quartar of 2024 More recently, Kuo said he does not expect any new ‌iPad‌ models this year. Likewise, multiple rumors suggest ‌iPad Pro‌‌ models with OLED displays and M3 chips won't be coming until 2024. Apple makes two versions of the ‌iPad Pro‌ because it comes in two sizes, and 9to5Mac speculates that Apple could release a larger version of the ipad air o go along with the current 10.9-inch version, or debut "a more expensive model with better specs." The outlet says that its sources believe the ‌‌iPad mini‌‌ 7 is coming "soon," but the report also says that all of the new iPads are on track to be announced "between now and WWDC 2024 in June," which is a wide window.

@VijayankSharma Agree with you .....That is in line with some rumors, which indicate major new ‌‌iPad‌‌ launches are not expected until 2024. In January, established Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the next ‌iPad mini‌ would likely enter mass production in the first quarter of 2024.

In September 2023 Kuo posted on X (formally Twitter) to say that new iPads were unlikely before the end of 2023. New iPad models are unlikely before the year's end. There are also rumors that Apple is working on a new iPad Pro, possibly including a 14-inch version, for 2024

Based on an analysis of Apple's historical iPad release pattern, the probability of Apple launching a new iPad in 2023 is low. A Chi-squared test found that the historical pattern doesn't follow a predictable mathematical model, suggesting other factors influence release decisions. Since it's the end of 2023 with no formal announcements, I'd bet on "NO" for a new iPad launch this year. The historical pattern doesn't align with a straightforward release schedule, implying that factors beyond past trends drive Apple's decisions.

Considering the release frequency that apple has when releasing new iPads according to their website.

I'm at 1%. Apple doesn't launch a new iPad without an event and yesterday was the last chance.

predicted NO

@marketwise They have before! IIRC the 2022 iPad Pro with hover, etc. was launched via press release.

@marketwise They could totally do a spec-bump to the iPad mini with just a press release in November. I don’t think they will, I think they’ll wait until March when they have new iPad Pros, but I think 5-10% is about accurate for this market until December. (They won’t release anything in December—too close to the holidays.)

No alerts from Verizon about iPad discounts, though they've been decently priced for a month or two. Usually I will get notifications from them a 1-3 days for discounts in anticipation of Pre-Order of a new product.

Apple released a new Apple Pencil design in a press release just a couple weeks ago (in mid-October, when they normally release iPad updates). If they had an iPad release eminent, I think they would have timed the Apple Pencil release to coincide. I think we’ll get Macs on Tuesday and I don’t think we’ll see anything else from Apple this year.

Historically, Apple has had a pattern of releasing new iterations or versions of their products, including the iPad, on an almost yearly basis. Factors that  influence such decision include:

  1. Historical Release Patterns: Apple has a history of updating its iPad lineup regularly, with new models or updates coming out almost every year since the iPad was first introduced in 2010.

  2. Market Demand: there's strong demand in the market for newer, more powerful, or more feature-rich iPads, Apple might be more inclined to release a new model.

  3. Technological Advancements: As technology evolves, Apple  introduces new iPads to integrate the latest technologies, i.e, it's display, processor, camera, or other innovations.

  4. Competition: The decisions of competitors in the tablet market often influence Apple's product launch timeline.

However, there is no indication that apple will release a new tablet in 2023, instead, apple is rumored to release a new tablet in the first quarter of 2024.

@kojoyeboahbissy Is this just more chatGPT spam?

Apple has been releasing an iPad every year since 2010. In total, they've released 19 iPads in those last 12 years, which equals to a mean of 1.58 iPads per year. Therefore, statistically speaking, it is very likely that 2023 sees a release as well. However, Apple's main event of the year, Wonderlust, took place last month with no mention to the iPad. In these cases, and as we're nearing the end of October, it's best to look at reputable sources for the right information. According to trustworthy analysts, it is very unlikely an iPad is released this year. Last year, 4 new iPads were released and the last ones were in October, which is almost over for this year. In any case, it makes sense Apple is breaking its annual iPad release streak, as according to MacWorld "that makes sense since the iPad Pro already has an M2 processor and will likely get the M3 in the second half of 2024. The 10th-gen iPad was released nearly a year ago and the iPad Air was released in the spring of 2022; both these models can go a bit longer before being due for an upgrade. It’s only the iPad mini that is getting long in the tooth, having been released in 2021, but there isn’t much it needs other than a new chip." If we go to the data of the releases Apple has done about the iPads, we can see that there have been about 19 releases in the last 12 years so that we can elaborate a Poisson distribution around it. Then the probability of Apple releasing a new IPad in a year is around 53%. Even though the probability is not that favourable there are rumors that the new IPad is coming for this 2023 (https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidphelan/2023/10/23/apple-ipad-2023-release-date-all-new-ipad-air-coming-report-claims/?sh=4eed86fd7737). So its better to bet to a YES

@JoseAntonioRomainvilleSol dont you want P(X>0)?

predicted NO

@JoseAntonioRomainvilleSol This is not a report claiming that there is a new Air coming in 2023. Nowhere is there mention of new information or reports in the article.

The author simply “thinks“ that there will be one because it's 18 months since the last Air updates? But we all know this, that's not a new report.

The reports we do have (Kuo and Gurman) all point to there not being new iPads. Which is why the market is so low, even if it's been long since new iPads.

(I don't think the Poisson distribution is correct. These releases aren't random. They intentionally have a somewhat similar period for each iPad line. The probability is far higher than 53%, if one were not to take any other information into account.)

@JonathanMannhart exactly. discarding the temporality of the problem (e.g., it is already October) seems ill advised
