Resolution criteria
This market will resolve to "Yes" if, for data for 2024-2040 (inclusive), there is at least one case where any Italian province or metropolitan city reports total average life expectancy of 90 years or more, according to the Italian National Institute of Statistics
https://demo.istat.it/tavole/?t=indicatori
or any official data published in English.
If by the time ISTAT pubishes final data for 2040, there are no such cases, the market will be resolved to "No". Only final data is taken into account (not preliminary).
Background and Considerations
According to the preliminary data for 2024, highest life expectancy in Italy was in provinces:
Lecco: 84.9 years
Treviso: 84.9 years
Monza and Brianza: 84.8 years
Yet three provinces had life expectancy 84.7 years.
Over the last decades before 2014, life expectancy increased gradually across all provinces. Then there was a plateau, and only in 2023 slow growth has resumed. The current growth rates are insufficient to achieve the specified milestone by the specified date. However significant advancements in healthcare, lifestyle, and socioeconomic conditions can make that possible.
