OpenAI has a new team that is trying to solve alignment in 4 years.

So far as I can tell, Eliezer Yudkowky has yet to say anything about the team on Twitter, Manifold, or Lesswrong.

This question resolves YES if his initial public reaction to the news is more positive than negative. He does not have to say that he thinks the team will succeed, just that it's more of a good thing than a bad thing.

Saying that it will give humanity positive dignity points or that it decreases his P(Doom) will cause this question to resolve YES even if he has criticisms of the project.

His reaction should be on one of the platforms linked above or something similar, not just in private messages, discord, or in person. This question is about what message he is willing to send in public.

If Eliezer does not say anything about the news by the resolution date or if his reaction is more negative than positive, this market resolves NO.

If I think there is reasonable room for disagreement about how to characterize his reaction, I will resolve to a percentage according to my best judgement.

I will not bet on this market.
